DIve Courses
This diving course can be completed in 3 or 4 days and at completion results in a certification to dive to 18
meters anywhere in the world. The course consists of 1-2 days of confined water training and dive
theory and then 2 days of 4 exciting open water dives.
Here at Discovery Divers, we give you many options in how you would like to complete your PADI course.
After all, it is your vacation and we like to give you some flexibility. The course can be completed
in as little as 2 ½ days with e-learning and up to 4 days with the standard course. Also, if you like
to take a break you don't have to complete the diving course in consecutive days if you'd like a little
breather in between.
The course consists of dive theory, confined water training and 4 dives on a boat in the open water.
The four options are as follows:
PADI e-learning:
With the e-learning option you can complete all of your dive theory online with PADI in the
comfort of your own home before you even arrive to Koh Samui. This option is great for those
people who want to spend a little less time while on vacation in the classroom. With this option you
can complete your PADI diving course on the island in 2 ½ -3 ½ days. We can also follow your progress with your
theory and help you with any questions that you may have.
On your first day of the course you will start in the morning and your dive instructor will do a review
with you of your theory and then you will get acquainted with the equipment with the instructor and
then off the the fun part of the course.
At this point you will do your confined water training with one of our instructors in one of our pools
here onsite at the Amari hotel. You can complete all of your confined water training in one day or split it
up into two short days if you prefer.
In your confined water dives you will learn all you need to know in how to use scuba equipment and
be able to handle yourself under water as well as being prepared for any situation in the open water.
We prefer to take a little more time with you in the pool so that you are 100% comfortable when
you go diving in the open water. Not only will you learn a lot, you will a have a lot of fun
swimming around under water.
The final two days of the course consist of your open water boat dives. This is the reason your
doing the course for anyway, right? The open water portion of the course consists of 4 open water
dives over two days where you will perform various dive skills both under water and at the surface to
make sure that you are a competent and safe diver. We split the skills over 4 dives so that you only
are doing a few skills each dive and get to spend the majority of your time diving with your
instructor and exploring the underwater world.
Your first open water day will start with us picking you up at your hotel approximately 7:10am. We
will take you to the boat pier where you will meet up with your instructor and set up your
equipment on the boat. The boat ride to Koh Tao will take approximately 1:15 minutes and upon
arrival there you will do your first dive in one of the shallow bays of Koh Tao. In-between dives
you will enjoy some lunch and rest up for your second dive. After your second dive the boat will
return to Koh Samui and usually returns about 3:00 pm.
Your second day of open water training will start again with a pickup at 7:10. Depending on the
dive site that we go to for your 3rd and 4th dive the boat ride will be anywhere form 45-80 minutes.
You will do your two completion or “graduation dives” with lunch in between again and will return
to Koh Samui between 1:15 and 3:30.
Now it's time to party!! Congratulations, you are now a PADI open water diver and are permitted to
dive to depths up to 18 meters and able to rent diving equipment and tanks all over the world.
